At Outdoor Office, Inc we provide our customers with custom manufactured backyard home offices and studios across Oregon. As we expand our company across the West Coast we are increasing our capacity to delivery high end spaces to clients in the Portland market. We are looking for an experienced CARPENTER to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience including framing, installing various types of siding, roofing, doors & windows, plus be able to work independently, and with a qualified team. You must have a valid driver’s license. He or she will be responsible for measuring and cutting lumber, sheathing, siding, roofing, doors and windows, as well as installing it according to manufacturer’s specifications. The ability to work well with others is essential, as is the ability to take direction and follow instructions. Our latest job opening is: CARPENTERS are going to be responsible for framing, installing siding on the exterior walls of our Outdoor Office structures. They should also be able to install roofing and assist or install doors and windows. This includes installing potentially any necessary insulation, trim, panels, lap, or board and batten styles. Our Carpenters must have a strong attention to detail as they work with many different types of materials and components. They also need to be physically fit as they often spend long days on their feet lifting materials and climbing ladders to reach high areas. The Carpenters will have a wide range of responsibilities , which can/may include: * Framing, Cutting, Using Power Tools and Equipment, Measuring and Following Drawings * Installing siding materials such as wood or fiber cement boards * Installing flashing and other components to ensure water does not penetrate walls or cause damage to the structure * Cutting and measuring materials to length and marking cutting lines to ensure straight cuts * Installing windows and doors using pre-established measurements and using construction adhesive for installation * Installing insulation and vapor barrier materials on exterior walls prior to installing siding materials * Measuring and cutting siding materials to fit around windows and doors * Locating and marking studs and joists in walls to ensure the siding is installed correctly Our Carpenters should have the following skills in order to be successful in this position: Construction skills: Carpenters use their construction skills to read and interpret prints, understand building codes and safety regulations and identify the materials and tools needed to complete a project. Construction skills are also important for carpenters because they use these skills to install correctly and ensure the integrity of the finished product. Communication skills: Carpenters use their communication skills to interact with install teams and other carpenters. They also use their communication skills to read and interpret prints and other installation plans. Communication skills are also important for carpenters to convey information to their teams. You must be able to speak/understand English. Attention to detail: Carpenters need to have excellent attention to detail to ensure they install correctly. Beyond the position: At Outdoor Office, our carpenters can advance their career by becoming a supervisor or project manager.
